In a gated enclave, distinguished by a majestic forested view, there lies a rare piece of architectural integrity like no other in Los Angeles. In 2016, an award-winning preservation married a museum-quality restoration with the latest amenities to create a luxurious and gracious environment. At approximately 14,000 sf, it is the largest Arts and Crafts house ever built in America, originally constructed in 1913 on the western edge of Los Feliz. This secure estate lies at the crest of its own canyon and provides exceptional privacy. A bucolic woodland setting measures nearly two acres and includes a lushly wooded buildable lot. 9 BD/9 BA complete the living quarters and guest house. A 2000 sf ballroom affords entertaining on a grand scale. Wander the quiet grounds and encounter a waterfall, pebbled pathways, swimming pool, secret arbors, and viewpoints revealing the city and even the ocean. The property is not only a cultural landmark, it is a wonderland for residential living.

Ernie Carswell is one of the most accomplished and respected real estate agents in the industry today. With more than 25 years of experience in the business, Carswell’s extensive roster of satisfied clientele includes the likes of Fortune 500 CEOs, professional entertainers, top studio executives, leading attorneys, government officials, ambassadors and foreign dignitaries.
Carswell is one of the most admired names in luxury real estate and frequently receives accolades for his outstanding work in the press. He has been included in The Hollywood Reporter’s “Hollywood’s Top 25 Real Estate Agents” listing, in Variety’s feature on “Showbiz Real Estate Elite,” Billboard’s coverage of the “Top 15 Real Estate Agents Representing Musicians Today,” and was named the Top Real Estate Agent in California by Top Agent Magazine.
A native of South Carolina, Carswell’s real estate career began in the exclusive Highland Park neighborhood of Dallas, Texas. He moved to New York in the 1980’s to become an agent, selling properties on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, before landing in Southern California in 1990 where he still currently resides today.
Frank Lloyd Wright described architecture’s purpose aptly; “Without an architecture of our own we have no soul of our own civilization.” And I find LA’s unique homes and diverse neighborhoods give this city its own eclectic soul.
I am fortunate to have worked in all parts of this expansive city. In fact, rather than focus on a certain area, I follow my clients and they crisscross LA’s most exclusive, diverse and up and coming neighborhoods.
My sales and strategy acumen began in an unlikely place; the US military. During the 1990s, I served as a newly minted Naval Intelligence Officer in Operation Desert Storm. In essence, I sold “strategy and tactics” to wartime commanders. During my subsequent tour at Naval Special Warfare Command, I “sold” civilian companies on the importance of developing mobile intelligence technology that SEALS could deploy with.
In 2006, I donned a new uniform; a suit and tie and thus began my real estate career. Working closely with Ernie Carswell, a distinguished veteran in the LA luxury real estate market, I cut my teeth executing 30 plus transactions per year. This relationship has blossomed into a very successful partnership.
At the US Naval Academy, I honed skills including integrity, attention to detail and esprit de corps. As a naval officer, I built upon these skills in highly volatile environments. And as your real estate agent, I will guide you through complex and at times, difficult transactions.
In my spare time, I enjoy being a first time father, attending musicals of almost any kind and a chilled Hanger One martini – served up with a couple olives. In addition, I am also involved with veterans groups and support a variety of charities.
